چکیده
Abstract The knowledge of the testicular and ovarian morphology a particular fish species is paramount importance. Such analyze enables development studies techniques aiming improvement their reproduction, management, commercialization even conservation. This study performed characterization ornamental Amazon Serrapinnus kriegi. A total three males females had gonads analyzed by optical microscopy. Females present ovaries filled with oocytes in asynchronous development, indicating partial spawning species. Moreover, micropyle micropilar cell formation was observed primary growing oocytes, representing precocious oocyte development; zona radiata final vitellogenic thicker than other related species, evidencing better protection to embryos function waters’ turbulence that characterize it sites Amazonian streams. male specimens’ anastomosed tubular testes unrestricted spermatogonia spread along entire seminiferous tubules. data elucidate dynamic spermatogenesis oogenesis an through description female germ cells development.

Cytogenetic analysis and description of the sexual chromosome determination system ZZ/ZW of species of the fish genus Serrapinnus (Characidae, Cheirodontinae).
Four populations of Serrapinnus notomelas and one population of Serrapinnus sp.1, both belonging to the subfamily Cheirodontinae, were analyzed by Giemsa and silver nitrate impregnation techniques. We found 2n = 52 chromosomes for all populations, with interspecific differences in the karyotype formula; S. notomelas showed 16 m + 22 sm + 10 st + 4a, with fundamental number (FN) = 100 for males,...
متن کاملKaryotypic characterization of two species of the genus Serrapinnus (Characiformes, Characidae), with the description of a structural polymorphism in S. heterodon
The family Characidae, one of the largest and more diversified fish families in the Neotropical region, is certainly not a monophyletic group, which is supported by the cytogenetic data showing its extensive chromosome variability. In this work, two species of the genus Serrapinnus, S. heterodon and S. piaba, from the São Francisco river basin were analyzed. Both species presented the same dipl...
متن کاملA new fish species of Roeboides from Panamá (Characiformes: Characidae).
A freshwater fish Roeboides loftini n.sp. is described from the Río Coclé del Norte drainage of the Atlantic versant of Panamá. The new species differs from other species of the Roeboides guatemalensis-group by the number of perforated scales on the lateral line (83-100), body depth (31.8-36.1%), predorsal distance (49.1-51.9%) and the shape of the humeral spot.

The species, Pterophyllum scalare distinguishes itself by its breeding behavior, involving competition for territory, sexual partners, courtship and parental care. The purpose of this study was to identify the mating system adopted by this species of fish. Twenty males and twenty females were observed under semi-natural and experimental conditions to test the hypothesis of serial monogamy. Unde...
متن کاملCharacterization of putative ligands for a fish gonadal androgen receptor in a pulp mill effluent.
Fish exposed to pulp and paper mill effluents often become masculinized. A plausible hypothesis is that this is caused by activation of androgen receptors. The present study aimed to investigate if ligands for the fish gonadal androgen receptor (AR2) are present in pulp mill effluent and to characterize/identify these compounds. Extracts of both primary and biologically treated effluents from a...
